Lack of deep sleep
Lack of deep sleep significantly reduces the body's ability to regulate blood sugar levels and leads to type two diabetes, reported doctors at the University of Chicago / USA. Sung in a deep stage, also called sleep "slow wave" as the scientists suggest, is the most important part of the night rest, but its significance for human physical condition had not previously seen.
The study found that only after three nights with small and troubled time sleeping young healthy people have become less sensitive to insulin, although their bodies need more of this hormone to get rid of excess glucose. Thus violation of sleep and insomnia not only hurt glucose metabolism and regulation of appetite, but also increase the risk of diabetes.
The experiment was conducted on men and women 20-31 years. Volunteers were invited to stay awake during three nights in succession, but during sleep they will deliberately special sounds emanating from the sensor at the bed - these signals were loud enough to disrupt the stage of deep sleep, but did not cause full awakening. Specialists monitored the brain wave data and measured the levels of glucose and insulin in the blood of participants.
After the analysis proved that the reduction in hours of sleep "slow wave" is similar to sleep changes occurring in a person after 40 - the age. Young adults spend 80-100 minutes every night to sleep "slow wave", explain the experts, while people over 60 are at this stage less than 20 minutes. After testing it was noted 25 - percentage decrease sensitivity to insulin and 23 - percentage increase in the number of glucose in the blood. Doctors conclude that the wrong sleep contributes to metabolic changes and even lead to accelerated aging.
